The Association “Ere-Chui”of the indigenous communities of the Telengite people addressed the President RF, Chairman of the RF Government, General Prosecutor, RF on account of the tragic accident at the beginning of the year in the Kosh-Aigach District, which caused the death of seven people as a result of the crash of the MI-171 helicopter.
The disaster caused a great public outrage, particularly so after the media information appeared. «It is known for sure that top officials of the republican and federal levels were hunting argalis, the Red Data Book animals, which are sacred to the Altai people. In this connection the republican NGOs appealed to the RF President D.A. Medvedev with a number of questions regarding the accident investigation. The "Ere-Chui" Association approved of the present appeal and fully supports the stated demands. On behalf of the public, we condemn the criminal actions and express our discontent due to lack of any official statements by the state leaders regarding the event concerned. We condemn the actions of the Republican authorities aimed at distortion of the evidence available», - states the Appeal. The Telengite Association sharply criticized the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Public Chamber of the Altai Republic and expressed distrust to El-Bashchi of the Altai Republic and Zaisan of the Altai Republic for «hushing up of the situation concerned». Telengites demanded that the President Dmitry Medvedev, being a guarantor of the RF constitution, should state his attitude to the event concerned and the law-enforcement bodies should thoroughly investigate the crime and bring those responsible to justice and provide information about the measures taken via the media
