In Yugra, the Institute of the Education of the Indigenous Peoples of the North is being established. The Institute will become part of the Russian Academy of Education. The issue was discussed on February 3, by the Governor of the Okrug Alexander Filipenko and Vice-President of RAE Victor Bolotiv, who visited Khanty-Mansiisk on a working trip.
As was reported by the press service of the Region, the Institute would be based on the already existing Yugra educational institutions specializing in indigenous issues. According to V. Bolotov, the Okug Government is handing over to the Institute the already available facilities, and the Russian Academy of Education will invest funds in its further development. The Academy will allocate 25 researcher vacancies to the Institute. Currently, the Academy comprises 5 institutions, the charter of the 6th one being 90% ready. The Institute will be managed by the board of trustees with 4 representatives from both the Okrug and the Academy.
