People in both regions mentioned several
ways of decreasing or preventing impacts of floods. These were:�
- dig ditches to steer the water away
from houses
- move people and possessions and drive
the reindeer herds up on the hills
- build floats
- listen to experienced and older people
to learn where it is safe to cross a flooding river.
